Sonia weds Shabbir

The wedding ceremony of Sonia and Shabbir took place on 20th February 2011 at Bangabandhu Convention Centre (Bangladesh -China Friendship Conference Centre). This ceremony was attended by approximately 1500 guests. Walima was held on 25th February 2011 at Hotel Radisson.

Friends and family from near and abroad joined the multi day extravaganza. The event was preceded by couple of Baithak nights at the brides Baridhara diplomatic area residence. Every Baithak lasted till late nights where boys from Nawabbari entertained the guests. After the haldi ceremony Sonia’s friends performed to several Bollywood chartbusters. Mehendi and the cultural show at grooms Dhanmondi residence was equally entertaining. Be it menu, decor or ambiance on both wedding and walima were glamorous.

Bride: Sonia Fatema Saber – daughter of Khwaja Saberuddin & Naheen Saber of Baridhara diplomatic area. Sonia (Binu) completed BA (Hons) in Business Studies from University of Wales institute Cardiff (UWIC) this spring. Brides father Khwaja Saberuddin originally hails from 20 Ahsanullah Road. He is GM of Japanese conglomerate Sumitomo Corporation. Dhaka and ex member of M.A.W.Trust .

Groom: Shabbir Ahmed Siddiqui is son of Mohammed Rabban Ali & Mrs Shama Rabbani of Dhanmondi. He holds an MBA from North South University. His father Industrialist Mohammed Rabban Ali is a vice chairman of Social Islami Bank and renowned importer of petro-chemical products.
