Khwaja Nazimuddin with cricket players
This photo was taken on December 2, 1951 at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground. After Pakistan beat MCC, Pakistan’s Governer General Khwaja Nazimuddin (with raised hand in the photo) called Fazal Mahmood (Right in the photo) and Abdul Hafeez Kardar (2nd from the Left in the photo) next to him. He held their hands and said ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ (long live Pakistan). The jubilant 20000 strong Karachi crowd also joined in and soon the whole ground was shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’

Are you sure they played a 20 over game that time, if they did, a score card from that game will be much appreciated if it’s not too much to ask 😉

  2. Rumibaba Says:

A MCC side toured the subcontinent in 1951-52, playing a number of fixtures in Pakistan, two against a representative side. Fazal played in both, the first in Lahore was drawn and in the second Pakistan won by four wickets, Fazal taking 6/40 in the MCC’s first innings.[3] That victory played a large part in Pakistan gaining Test status.[2] Pakistan were made Test members on 28 July, 1952, less than five years after partition.

Here’s the scorecard from that game 🙂
