It is with great pride that we announce Syed Khawaja Alqama’s (son of Khawaja Khairuddin and Haseena Khairuddin) appointment as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Khawaja Alqama holds a Phd from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK. He also holds a MA in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury, UK and a MS in International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University, Pakistan. He completed his graduation at Government College, Lahore. Khwaja Alqama received his early education at Residential Model School, Dhaka.
Before his appointment, Khawaja Alqama was Dean and Chair of the Department of Political Science at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan, Pakistan.
Khawaja Alqama is married to Lulu Ayesha Khawaja (daughter of Khwaja Zubair and Sara Zubair) and has three daughters- Hani Khawaja, Reda Khawaja and Zoreen Khawaja.
Khawaja Alqama has two sisters (Seema Talha & Tazeen Jamil) and two brothers (Salman Khairuddin and Maaz Khairuddin). Khawaja Alqama’s father, Khawaja Khairuddin was the Mayor of Dhaka in the 1960s and the chief of the Muslim League in Dhaka. Khwaja Alqama’s first cousin, S.K. Sharjil Hassan was Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Moscow.
For the first time in the history of the Dhaka Nawab Family, two members of the Dhaka Nawab Family will concurrently serve as High Commissioners from their respective countries in both Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Khawaja Alqama will serve as Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh while his relative Yasmeen Morshed continues to serve as Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan.
