It is so sad what this monumental place has become. It is a great loss to the people of nawab bari. “Baad Muharram Ya Hossain”.

  2. Intrepid Says:

Ah! The Granduer of the once mighty Nawab Family of Dacca is showing and in all it’s splendor! Perhaps the “Pink Palace” is being auctioned off. Do you think ?????

  3. Mohd Talha Says:

lol not really INTREPID nice name though check out some cool pic in da dhaka nawab family group in face book

  4. Intrepid Says:

Mr. Talha………..exactly why would I want to check out some cool pic in da dhaka nawab family group in face book ? Cool or otherwise, I don’t really care to ! But, thanks for the information.

In retrospect, looking at the picture of the “auction” outside of the gate of the “Pink Palace” there is a chance, as slight as it may be that certain members of la familia may have attempted to auction off certain parts of the “Pink Palace”, of course only with the complicity of certain higher-ups in the BD government or perhaps in the interest of accuracy, I should say members of the recently past government!…..! Do you think, with these statements, I have managed to piss-off a section of la familia ??? Exciting !!!!!!!

Again…I look forward to an exciting response/reaction to this email.

I think this picture “Traders auctioning goods from a truck in front of Ahsan Manzil in Old Dhaka yesterday.” is very natural” Photo reflecting local culture and tradition around that area. Picture does have some character. I like the picture. Traders are not inside, they are outside the compound.

Traders been around Darya kenar selling goods, showing magics, tricks, monkey dance, village medicine from Patna Adda (ginger roots) on the banks of Buriganga (near Ahsan Manzil) since ancient time.

In old days similar activities use to take place around Champs-Elysees area in Paris. As a matter of fact you can still witness such activities in Luis Blanc or around Chautau Dantin area. There are many museams and history around that area.

While local folks not visiting inside Ahsan Manzil is totally different issue altogether. Now think about traffic jam as one reason folks not visiting Ahsan Manzil. Mostly poor villagers pass from Sadarghat may not have enough money to buy ticket to see Ahsan Manzil and whatever they may have left inside to see.

Thanks Iftekhar bhai for your constructive analysis.
Is there any room for improvement?
