Inna lillahe wa inna elaihi raje’un. The death of Nawab Begun is a great loss to DNF. Her existence was a mere blessing for DNF. However, death is imminent and one has to follow it no matter what. She was a very dear friend of my father and she treated me (especially) like her own. Let us pray for her, may Allah (swt) grant her Jannat-ul-Ferdous. Ameen. My request to all DNF members (wherever you maybe) to please make du’a for her.

Anita, this is Mizan Mamu from New York. At this tragic moment, we are far away from you but our prayers and thoughts are with you. May Allah (SWT) give you Sabr-e-jameel. Ameen

My uncle Khwaja Nesar Ahmed had a stroke and died prematurely in Karachi. His Karachi stopover was part of the itinerary of the returning Hajj flight to Dhaka. The next day the dead body was flown to Dhaka.

This had happened during the last days of the liberation war of 1971, while rumors were spreading like wildfire in Dhaka. One of them was that, “the army is killing the Bengalis and sending the dead bodies from the west wing to the east”. On this ground, the then provisional government had banned flight of any dead body from the west.

Nawab Begum Ayesha talked to the military high command and had obtained a permission to release the dead body of my uncle from PIA. She had used her good name and contact for this good deed. Unfortunately the permission letter reached the airport late and the dead body was flown back to Karachi.

We are thankful to the Nawab Begum and pray for her departed soul. I am sure Nawab Begum did many other noble deeds like this for which Allah will grant her Jannat.
    Anas Khwaja
