The 400th anniversary of Dhaka as the capital city is being celebrated amid massive festivity and colorful activities. A three-year state-level celebration titled ‘Dhaka Amar Dhaka,’ has been launched on November 28 followed by a daylong programme on the next day.
Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed called upon all concerned to take effective steps to make the capital Dhaka a bustling, habitable and modern city. The CA made the call while inaugurating a three-year gala celebrations of 400 anniversary of the capital Dhaka at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
He also advised all concerned including the archeological department to take meaningful initiatives for proper preservation of the historic establishments and other archeological sites including Ahsan Manzil.
During the three-year celebration special arrangements will made to put up shows at historical places and heritage sites like Ahsan Manzil to reintroduce the histories and legends of the city to the new generation.

Earlier a carnival (grand rally) was organized on July 25, 2008 to commemorating Quadro Centennial of Dhaka city as Capital. One of the segments of the Carnival was Ahsan Manzil – representing 19th Century (1800-1900). |
