Link for the serial: Khwaja & Son
This classic comedy serial revolves around Khawaja sahib (played by Ali Ejaz) & his son (Jawad). As a father, Khawaja sahib is quick to catch on to any mistake or wrong step his son takes and is ever ready to correct him.Ali Ejaz’s comical role as Khawaja sahib is a revelation. His dialogue delivery is quite exceptional, especially when he suddenly switches to speaking in English (broken & forced)…this is a source of much amusement for the viewers.
Writer: Ata ul Haq Qasmi , Cast: Ali Ejaz, Aurangzeb, Arifa Siddiqui, Fauzia Rehman, Muhammad Zubair, Samina Khalid, Jazba Sultan, Ismat Tahira & Gayyur Akhtar (more)

Askari honored by The Anti-Defamation League.
Mayor Bloomberg of NY meets Askari
Background Story
We are not talking about Superman, Spiderman or Batman this time. Hasan Askari acted as the hero of New York this Friday.
Hasan Askari (20) is the Grandson of the 4th Nawab of Dhaka -Nawab Khwaja Hasan Akari- is an accounting student at Berkeley College in Manhattan. While riding Q train headed to Brooklyn late Friday he saved three Jewish passengers from a band of 14 anti Semite thugs.
It all began when Adler, his girlfriend, Maria Parsheva, and two other pals boarded the subway at Canal Street bound for Brooklyn and someone in another group wished them “Merry Christmas.” Adler and his pal Angelica Krischanovich responded: “Happy Hanukkah.” Apparently, those were fighting words. The group of about 14 men and women then allegedly began taunting Adler and his pals as “dirty Jews” and “Jew bitches.”
Amid a huge scrum, Askari who is 5’7”and weights 140 lbs jumped in. Fearful for Maria’s safety, he pushed one of the attacker men away – and was then pounced on by the group.
“I’m bleeding all over the place, there’s lots of people, they’re fighting with Hassan still, and I’m like, why isn’t anyone else doing anything?” Adler said. He pulled the emergency brake right before entering the DeKalb Avenue station.
Askari said “They grabbed me and punched and beat me up, they punched me first. I didn’t get a chance to punch him back. I did what I thought was right, I did the best that I could to help. My parents raised me that way.”
Askari was first handcuffed along with the 10 suspects, but he was released when Adler told police he was not an attacker.
Later Hassan Askari and Walter Adler were also honored by Foundation for Ethnic Understanding Wednesday for their role in preventing anti-Semitic attack on subway. “We salute these young men for their courage in not allowing their faith come between them in a time of need. They are leading by example,” said Foundation President Rabbi Marc Schneier. Please click here to read about this event.

The following are excerpts from an New nation article written by Siddique Mahmudur Rahman.
….. In the beginning, the journey of Dhaka University started with only three halls.
These are Salimullah Muslim Hall, Jagannath Hall and Dhaka Hall. In 1921-22 session, Salimullah Muslim hall started functioning with 75 residential students and 103 non residential students on the first floor of Dhaka Medical College. Ahmed Fazlur Rahman,(alma mater from Oxford University) was appointed as Provost of Salimullah Muslim Hall. The Present building of Salimullah Hall was inaugurated on 11 August 1931.
The hall is established on a 12.91 acres of land including 75 thousand sq. ft. of garden. The main structure is a rectangular structure, resembling a fort, but without typical fortification. This two-storied building house 810 students. It has one dining room, one library, one auditorium with TV facility, one computer room, two reading rooms and one saloon. ……
After the Liberation of Bangladesh, the then Government deleted the word ‘Muslim’ from its name to make it non-communal flavour …….The HC declared 1972 decision of the University Syndicate illegal and the rule absolute. The Hon’ble Court directed the authority to give SM Hall its original name “Salimullah Muslim Hall”. ……..
It came to news headlines many a times after that. The Pakistani soldiers also attacked Salimullah Hall and Dhaka Hall.
They beat up Salimullah Hall house tutor Professor Munim. Editorial March is the month of Liberation War and on 26 march, we celebrate Independence Day.
…… – Salimullah Muslim Hall of Dhaka University is turning 75 years old. It is really a matter of prime for those who are related with his hall.
